Enrolment

Thank you for considering Suzanne Aubert Catholic School for your child’s education. Starting school is a very exciting milestone for our learners and parents alike. We warmly welcome you to make contact with us anytime and arrange an appointment with our leadership team to learn more about our school.

Online enrolment is now open!

As a Catholic School, there are two categories of enrolment:
Preference and Non-Preference

Preference Enrolment

Preference enrolment is granted by the Parish Priest. Preference requires that the child meets one of the following criteria:

1. The child has been baptised, or is being prepared for baptism in the Catholic Church.

2. The child’s parents/guardians have already allowed one or more of its siblings to be baptised in the Catholic faith.

3. At least one parent/guardian is a Catholic, and although their child has not yet been baptised, the child’s participation in the life of the school could lead to the parents having the child baptised.

4. With the agreement of the child’s parent/guardian, a significant familial adult such as a grandparent, aunt or uncle, who is living in close proximity and who is actively involved in the child’s upbringing undertakes to support the child’s formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church.

5. One or both of a child’s non-Catholic parents/guardians is preparing to become a Catholic.

For preference learners, parents or caregivers must obtain a Preference of Enrolment Certificate signed by the Parish Priest.

Non-Preference Enrolment

If a child does not meet the above criteria then they may apply for enrolment at the school as 'Non-Preference’. These enrolments will only be considered after the published enrolment closing date. Up to 10% of the school roll may include children with non-preference status at any one time. The school is unable to enrol any ‘Non-Preference’ students if there are more ‘Preference’ students than places available. Parents are able to place their child's name on a waiting list. Children will be offered placement as vacancies occur in accordance with the following criteria of priority:

1. First Priority: will be given to non-preference applicants who are siblings of existing non-preference students.

2. Second Priority: will be given to non-preference applicants living within the agreed catchment area.

3. Third Priority: will be given to non-preference applicants who are children of staff or Board members.

4. Fourth Priority: will be given to non-preference applicants living outside the catchment area.

The date that a complete enrolment application has been received will define the priority within each of the above criteria.
